What’s in a name?

by Amara Lynn (Twitter, WordPress)

A name isn’t something you choose

Yet it wants indelible power over you

A name tells people what to call you, what to think

A name is more than letters pressed in ink

Your name is something you can choose

It doesn’t have to hold power over you

Unless you want it to

A name can empower too

What’s in a name?

More than some will ever know

Perhaps with time they’ll learn and grow
